Abandoned cart rules

Abandoned cart rules control every detail of the reminder messages: how many, how often, on which channel, and what they contain. All of it lives under Cartsaver → Settings → Abandoned Cart.

You can configure up to 3 reminder messages, each fired at a different delay from the moment the cart was abandoned. A high-performing default:

#Timing after abandonmentChannelIdea
130 minutesWhatsAppFriendly nudge
26 hoursWhatsAppStock-pressure framing
324 hoursSMSIncentive (free shipping or discount)

Each message has:

  • Delivery delay (minutes / hours / days).
  • Channel (must be enabled in your OTP channel settings).
  • Attached template — the approved WhatsApp template that carries the reminder copy.
  • Optional discount code pulled from Shopify’s Discounts section.

You can scope when the rule applies:

  • Minimum cart value — e.g. don’t send reminders for carts below $5 (saves message quota).
  • Item count — e.g. only carts with two or more items.
  • Country — target a specific market.

If a customer replies STOP (or إيقاف in Arabic) to a reminder, their number is added automatically to the opt-out list and they receive no further reminders.

Turn off the main Enable abandoned cart switch to pause the campaign without losing your rules — for example, while you update inventory or run maintenance.

In Cartsaver → Abandoned Cart → Statistics you’ll see:

  • Abandoned carts captured.
  • Reminders sent.
  • Customers who returned and completed checkout.
  • Recovery rate (%).
  • Revenue recovered.
  • In Settings → Abandoned Cart, the main switch is green and the number of configured messages (1, 2, or 3) is correct.
  • Test the rule: add a product to your cart from a guest browser, enter checkout details, then close the window. After the configured delay, the recovery message should arrive.
  • The Statistics counter increments by one within a few minutes after the test.
