Place a test order

The final step before exposing OTP verification to real customers is testing the flow yourself. Five minutes of testing catches every missed setting before a customer ever notices.

Use your own phone number (one that receives WhatsApp or SMS) so you can verify the message arrives.

Open your store in a regular browser window. Add any product to the cart and check out as a customer would. Select Cash on Delivery at checkout — the tap-to-confirm flow only runs on COD orders.

3. Watch for the WhatsApp confirmation message

Section titled “3. Watch for the WhatsApp confirmation message”

Once you place the order, you’ll receive a WhatsApp message from your store. Tap Confirm in that message to confirm your Cash on Delivery order. Once you do, the order’s status in Shopify changes to Verified.

5. Confirm the verification tags in Shopify

Section titled “5. Confirm the verification tags in Shopify”

Open the order in your Shopify admin (Orders → All orders → your test order). Two tags are now attached: ✅ Contact verified by OTP and a channel tag matching the method the customer used — ✅ Verified via WhatsApp in this walkthrough, or ✅ Verified via SMS / ✅ Verified via Email if you picked one of those channels. Together they mark that Cartsaver has confirmed the order with the customer. Check the Tags section on the right sidebar of the order page to see them.

Cartsaver is ready to handle real customer orders. Optional next steps:

  • The test order in Shopify → Orders carries both ✅ Contact verified by OTP and a channel tag (e.g. ✅ Verified via WhatsApp).
  • Cartsaver adds a new risk assessment on the order set to None. Any prior Shopify risk assessment remains visible alongside it.
