Abandoned Cart Recovery

Win back shoppers who didn’t finish checkout with timed WhatsApp reminders. Merchants recover up to 25% of their abandoned carts.

Cartsaver surfaces the Abandoned Cart performance as live counters for Messages Sent, Converted orders, and Revenue:

Abandoned Cart Recovery sends exclusively on WhatsApp. There is no SMS path in this flow.

When a customer fills in checkout details but leaves before paying, Shopify records an Abandoned Checkout event. Cartsaver picks it up in real time and starts the recovery sequence as soon as Abandoned Cart Recovery is enabled in your Cartsaver dashboard.

Cartsaver sends up to two reminders per abandoned checkout:

StageDefault delay after abandonment
Stage 1Cartsaver sends the first nudge about 1 hour after the cart is abandoned — long enough to rule out a quick pause, short enough to catch real intent.
Stage 2Sent after Stage 1, following the configured Stage-2 delay.

Stage 1 — soft inquiry: “Did you face any issue during checkout?” — gives the customer a chance to flag a problem before assuming abandonment, with the saved item shown inline and two clear next steps.

WhatsApp message from Cartsaver showing one saved item — a phone case from velcrano — with the text 'Hi Cartsaver, Did you face any issue during checkout at anzrout? Your (1) item(s) are still saved.' and two buttons at the bottom: View my items and Contact support.

Stage 2 — urgency: “Shopping is waiting for you” — reminds the customer their saved cart still exists, with a product carousel and a direct Complete Order button that drops them back into checkout.

WhatsApp message styled with urgency reading 'Shopping is waiting for you! Your favorite products are still available. You still have 4 products in your cart. Order now and enjoy' followed by a horizontal product carousel showing an Adidas Classic Backpack and additional products, with a Complete Order button below.

Each stage links the customer back to their saved checkout via a short checkout URL.

If the customer engages with a reminder but doesn’t complete checkout, Cartsaver waits about an hour before nudging again — separating shoppers who are clearly browsing from cold abandoners.

Reminders are suppressed inside a quiet-hours window so messages don’t wake customers up. Cartsaver respects your store’s local timezone and holds any pending nudges until the window closes.

Recovery messages are sent in the customer’s checkout language (Arabic or English, plus Hindi and Urdu where applicable). The language is captured at checkout; Cartsaver auto-selects the right template variant.

By default, Cartsaver recovers up to 50 abandoned carts per month on Free, Advanced, and Unlimited plans. Upgrade to the Scale plan to remove the cap — recover as many abandoned carts as your store generates, with no per-month ceiling. See billing and quota for how the abandoned cart recoveries on Advanced and Unlimited plans are counted.
